Abstract
Sedimentation and filtration studies were carried out on the iron chlo ride solution containing 50 g/1 of TiO2 (rutile) particles. The work c arried out on the laboratory scale indicated that both cationic and an ionic flocculants could be effectively used to agglomerate fine rutile particles and thereby enhancing the sedimentation rate. The vacuum fi ltration data on thickened slurry showed improvement when flocculant w as used. The filtraion mechanism followed intermediate blocking law mo del and cake filtration model for as such and flocculated slurry respe ctively.
