Abstract
Over a nine-month period in Goroka Base Hospital 310 patients with chr onic pain were treated in the pain clinic, Disabling lower backache wa s the most common complaint, followed by myofascial disorders and canc er pain, Best results for the management of pain were observed in pati ents receiving intralesional steroids, followed by intercostal block a nd lumbar sympathetic block for abdominal malignancies.
