Abstract
The review reports the most interesting and Important results concerni ng the problem of low-dimensional magnetism. Particular attention is g iven to thermodynamic properties of one- and two-dimensional isotropic Heisenberg magnetics. The strengths and weaknesses of various theoret ical approaches used for description of these systems are discussed ex tensively.
