Abstract
We report an efficient means to synthesize either enantiomer of alpha- unsubstituted aldol adducts in high enantiomeric excess through the us e of beta-keto delta-dioxolane sulfoxide 4. Through a short sequence o f reactions, alpha-unsubstituted aldol products are obtainable in high yield.
