Abstract
Conflicts of interest for the physician-researcher are not limited to direct financial support by a pharmaceutical or device manufacturer bu t rather include subtler indirect financial and research support. In a ddition, a physician's role as investigator may conflict with the role of patient advocate in ways that are not always recognized. Efforts t o increase awareness of subtle conflicts of interest should help preve nt and address patient harm and damage to data integrity.
