M. Cheron et al., ISOLATION OF B-BRONCHISEPTICA FROM THE RE SPIRATORY-TRACT OF A PATIENT WITH AIDS, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 25(5), 1995, pp. 763-764
B. bronchiseptica in combination with K. pneumoniae and S. marcescens
was isolated from the respiratory tract of a patient with AIDS, treate
d with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole for a P. carinii pneumonia and wi
th clarithromycin for a M. avium infection. The immunology with antibo
dy against B. bronchiseptica could be in favour of its pathogenicity.
The strain was susceptible to amoxicillin, ticarcillin, ceftazidime, t
etracycline, aminoglycoside, fluoroquinolone, erythromycin; resistant
to cefuroxime, cefixime, cefotaxime, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and
fosfomycine.
