Mt. Kenny et al., IN-VITRO ACTIVITY OF THE SEMISYNTHETIC GLYCOPEPTIDE AMIDE MDL-63,246, Antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, 39(7), 1995, pp. 1589-1590
The in vitro activity of the semisynthetic glycopeptide amide MDL 63,2
46 against 293 U.S. clinical isolates of gram-positive cocci was deter
mined by the broth microdilution method. When compared with teicoplani
n, MDL 63,246 had improved activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis
(MICs that inhibited 90% strains tested [MIC(90)s], 0.25 versus 8 mu
g/ml, respectively), Staphylococcus haemolyticus (MIC(90)s, 1 versus 3
2 mu g/ml, respectively), and VanA Enterococcus faecium (MIC(90)s, 32
versus greater than or equal to 1,024 mu g/ml, respectively).
