D. Bourget et Jmw. Bradford, SEX OFFENDERS WHO CLAIM AMNESIA FOR THEIR ALLEGED OFFENSE, Bulletin of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, 23(2), 1995, pp. 299-307
Information relating to demography, history, and psychiatric functioni
ng was collected for 20 consecutive individuals presenting to the Sexu
al Behaviours Clinic of the Royal Ottawa Hospital who claimed amnesia
for their alleged sexual offenses. In addition, comparison groups of a
dmitter and nonadmitter sex offenders were established to isolate rele
vant psychopathological constructs within the primary study group. Amn
estic offenders displayed higher degrees of violence and fulfilled dia
gnostic criteria for potentially more harmful paraphilia.
