Abstract
Two cases of biphasic hepatitis A in a 17-year-old male and his 42-yea r-old father are reported. In both patients, the relapse occurred two weeks after the initial episode, suggesting involvement of the same vi rus. The pathophysiology of relapsing hepatitis A is poorly understood but may involve impaired clearance of the virus from the body or immu ne responses associated with a relapsing course.
