Abstract
The effect of O-2 on the Ti(OBu)(4)-AlR(3) catalytic system in the dim erization of ethylene to 1-butene is studied. It is shown that O-2 rea dily interacts with excess AlR(3) and reduces the deactivating capabil ity of trialkylaluminium, converting it into the less reactive AlR(2)O R. The optimal conditions of the dimerization reaction in the presence of O-2 are found. An explanation of the effect of O-2 on the catalyti c system is proposed.
