Organosilicon derivatives of glycine, alpha- and beta-alanine, and alp
ha-methylalanine were prepared by the reaction of methyl esters of alp
ha- and beta-halocarboxylic acids with N-methyl-aminomethyltriethoxysi
lane in the presence of triethylamine. The compounds synthesized were
converted into the corresponding N-silatran-1-ylmethyl derivatives. Tr
imethyl-silyliodoacetate reacts with N-methylaminomethyltrietoxysilane
to give hoxy-4-methyl-1-oxa-4-aza-2-silacyclohexane-6-one. Its reacti
on with triethanolamine leads to N-methyl-N-(silatran-1-ylmethyl)glyci
ne.
