The average automobile currently produced in North America contains ab
out 90 kg of aluminum. That figure is expected to grow, driven by envi
ronmental needs, the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles, saf

applications for aluminum, the technology being developed to meet futu
re demand, and the forces driving changes in technology.
