UTILIZATION OF LIQUID SMOKE IN COLTURE ME DIA (ENRICHMENT AND SELECTIVE MEDIA) TO IMPROVE RECOVERY OF LISTERIA-MONOCYTOGENES FROM FOODS

Liquid smoke utilization in Listeria enrichment media or in solid sele ctive media (Palcam) has notably improved the efficiency of recovery i n tested media, and consequently even the per cent (%) Listeria recove ry from foods. The percentage of pure colonies that can be brought out at the first isolation has considerably increased, so reducing notabl y the purification operations. The characterization of the most effect ive liquid smoke molecules in the prevention of accompanying microbial flora, is still under consideration. The identification of the compon ents of the two employed liquid smokes is going to be printed.
