Cs-133, O-17 and V-51 static and MAS NMR spectra have been obtained on
the solid and molten Cs2S2O7-V2O5 catalyst model system in the compos
ition range X(V2O5) = 0-0.5 and at temperatures up to 550 degrees C. I
n addition Cs-133 and V-51 NMR spectra of several vanadates and oxosul
fatovanadates(V) are reported. The results indicate that monomeric, di
meric and polymeric V(V) complexes, possibly VO2SO4-, (VO)(2)O(SO4)(4)
(4-) and (VO2SO4)(n)(n-), are formed in the system by increasing mole
fraction X(V2O5). For the first time the V-51 NMR spectra of V2O5 diss
olved in molten pyrosulfates are reported.
