Cq. Jiao et Bs. Freiser, REACTIONS OF NB-N(-13) WITH ETHYLENE IN THE GAS-PHASE - TRENDS IN THEKINETICS, SATURATION LIMITS, AND DEGREE OF DEHYDROGENATION() (N=2), Journal of physical chemistry, 99(27), 1995, pp. 10723-10730
The reactions of ethylene with niobium cluster cations (Nb-n(+), n = 2
-13), which are generated by laser vaporization/ionization in a Smalle
y compact supersonic expansion source, are studied using Fourier trans
form mass spectrometry. The dependence of the reaction rate, saturatio
n limit, and degree of dehydrogenation on cluster size is investigated
. Reaction mechanisms and the nature of the bonding between the metal
center and the ligand(s) in the reaction product ions are proposed.
