Abstract
Some possible applications of mathematical morphological transformatio ns in computing the basic measures of surface water bodies are present ed. Sixteen water bodies are extracted from SPOT PLA data, and the alg orithm developed, based on mathematical morphological concepts, is tes ted to compute their basic measures.
