Ar. Prats et al., FOCAL CORTICAL RESECTIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF EXTRATEMPORAL EPILEPSYIN CHILDREN, Neurosurgery clinics of North America, 6(3), 1995, pp. 533-540
Epilepsy in children is a common and disabling disorder. Approximately
10% to 20% of patients who develop seizures will have medically intra
ctable epilepsy. This group of patients may be candidates for epilepsy
surgery. Unlike adults, epilepsy in children frequently arises in ext
ratemporal sites. The surgical treatment of this extratemporal epileps
y is discussed in this article.
