Abstract
Details are given of the Peter Brotherhood 12 MW steam turbine install ed at Lautoka sugar factory in Fiji as part of new power generating pl ant to allow an increase in cane crushing and supply of power to the F iji Electricity Authority. The FEA operates a hydroelectric station, b ut during the dry season the water level behind the dam falls so low t hat power generation is not possible, so that the arrangement with the sugar factory is of importance. A similar but smaller steam turbine i s being installed in the nearby Labasa sugar factory.
