Abstract
The inclusive quasi-elastic electron scattering off O-16, Ar-40, Pb-20 8 and U-238 is studied including the distortion of the incoming and ou tgoing electron wave due to Coulomb interaction with the nuclear charg e. The total cross-section, containing a new term due to the interfere nce between the longitudinal and transverse structure functions, is di scussed within the impulse approximation where final-state interaction and binding effects are included by using sum rules techniques. The q uasi-elastic scattering induced by positrons is also investigated.
