Superconducting cuprate samples with nominal composition Nd1.85Th0.15
CuO4-delta were investigated by high-resolution transmission electron
microscopy as well as selected-area electron diffraction techniques. T
wo different kinds of superstructure modulation have been identified.
One forms a twinned texture with four crystal variants and has monocli
nic symmetry. The other has tetragonal symmetry with a modulation wave
-vector of magnitude 3(c/2).
