Abstract
A boundary integral method is presented for the study of wave propagat ions in waveguiding structures that are considered difficult for the b eam propagation method (BPM). We have demonstrated with 2-D simulation s, that structures of large angle bends and arbitrary reflections can be easily modeled without excessive computational demand. This method provides a powerful tool for analyzing radiation loss, scattering, cro sstalk and other characteristics in complex integrated photonic device s.
