Abstract
Neither surgical or chemical thyroidectomy nor metopyrone administrati on could alter plasma calcium and inorganic phosphate levels of Coturn ix coturnix coturnix, Exogenous thyroid extract also failed to affect plasma electrolyte values probably because the gland lacked calcitonin producing C cells in this Bird. Our study demonstrates that thyroid a nd adrenal glands do not perform any major role in plasma calcium and inorganic phosohate homeostasis of the grey quail.
