Abstract
The present paper deals with a simple numerical approach to estimate d epths of a buried sphere and horizontal cylinder using moving average residual gravity anomalies. The problem of depth determination has bee n transformed into finding a solution of a non-linear equation of the form f(z) = 0. Formulas are given to estimate the radius of buried str uctures. The method has been applied to synthetic data with and withou t random errors. The validity of the method is also tested on the Humb le Dome gravity anomaly, near Houston, USA.
