A ratio between the relative abundances of the groups of platinum (75
less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 79) and lead (80 less th
an or equal to Z less than or equal to 83) has been extracted from a p
ublished sample of 270 galactic cosmic rays from the Ultra Heavy Cosmi
c Ray Experiment after carrying out a process of partial deconvolution
. The ratio obtained is compared with the ratio corresponding to a sol
ar system-like source composition and found to be significantly higher
. This result, compatible with previous experiments, suggests a contri
bution of the r-process to cosmic ray abundances.
