Abstract
We study the undulator brightness and central wavelength expression of a free electron laser with a longitudinal polarised wiggler field. Th e analysis is based on the evaluation of the Lienard-Wiechert potentia l retaining the condition of far field only. Some features of the long itudinal undulator are presented for a comparison with the results rel evant to the brightness of a conventional undulator.
