Abstract
Recent research indicates that the key events involved in the developm ent of lifelong allergic sensitization to environmental antigens occur during infancy and early childhood. This process involves interaction s between mutually antagonistic populations of allergen-reactive T-hel per lymphocytes, which occur around the time of initial allergen expos ure.
