Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the number and spatial e xtent of genetically homogeneous clones of Sphagnum rubellum within on e bog. Seven multilocus allozyme haplotypes could be distinguished in a sample of 100 plants representing 11 colonies. Of the seven allozyme haplotypes, two accounted for 66% of the plants we sampled. Three oth er haplotypes were moderately common (each making up 9-11% of our samp le), and two other rare haplotypes were restricted to a single polymor phic colony. Ten of the 11 colonies we sampled each consisted of a sin gle allozyme haplotype while one colony contained four haplotypes.
