Abstract
Two optimization techniques, the simplex and Hooke-Jeeves methods, are employed for optimum design of a 3.75 kW three-phase induction motor. Three different objective functions, efficiency, cost and cost-effici ency are used for this study. The obtained results are mainly compared in respect with their objective functions, but other design details h ave been also pointed out. Effects of stator- and rotor slot numbers a nd shape and the size of step in the search routine upon the optimum d esign are examined and discussed.
