Abstract
The effect of supply reactance on the performance of a three-phase ind uction motor fed from a non-ideal single-phase supply, using a capacit or phase converter, is investigated. Equations for predicting the perf ormance of the motor are derived, with the effect of the single-phase supply reactance taken into consideration. Star-and delta-connected mo tors are considered in deriving the performance equations. Computed re sults for the motor-performance characteristics obtained when the moto r is fed from a non-ideal single-phase supply are compared with those obtained when the motor is fed from a non-ideal three-phase balanced s upply having the same supply reactance as that of the single-phase sup ply.
