P. Lloydcobb et Dr. Dixon, A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF A VETERANS HOSPITAL DOMICILIARY PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS PERSONS, Research on social work practice, 5(3), 1995, pp. 309-316
The Clinical Anxiety Scale, the Generalized Contentment Scale, the Rev
ised UCLA Loneliness Scale, and the Problem-Solving Inventory were adm
inistered to nine male veterans in a Domiciliary Care for Homeless Vet
erans program. All four rapid assessment instruments were administered
when the veterans were admitted into the program, and again after 3 m
onths of participation The program had an intense focus on individual
and group counseling. A t test for correlated means was conducted on t
he pretest-posttest scores of each instrument All results were statist
ically significant, suggesting that this program is effective in helpi
ng reduce homeless veterans' feelings of anxiety, depression, and lone
liness, and helping them gain confidence in their problem-solving abil
ities.
