The formation of mixed proton- diethylenetriamine-carboxylic ligand (a
cetate, malonate, 1,2,3-propanetricarboxylate, citrate, 1,2,3,4-butane
tetracarboxylate) complexes has been studied potentiometrically in aqu
eous solution, at T = 25 degrees C. Least squares calculations showed
that mixed species of the general formula (dien)LH(r) [in which: r = 1
,2...(m+1); m is the maximum degree of protonation for carboxylate L],
are formed. A diacetate species, namely (dien)(ac)(2)H-3, was also fo
und. The stability of these complexes is discussed in comparison with
similar systems.
