Thermoluminescence (TL), optical absorption and TL emission studies ar
e made on CsCl:Cr3+ crystals at room temperature. The glow curve and o
ptical absorption studies clearly show the participation of chromium i
ons in the TL process. A new high-temperature 483 K glow peak not obse
rved in pure CsCl is ascribed to the chromium impurity. This TL glow p
eak gives the characteristic emission of Cr3+ at 730 nm.
