NEW SYNONYMS IN GRIMMIA AND SCHISTIDIUM (BRYOPSIDA, GRIMMIACEAE)

Two names from South America, Grimmia stenophyxis Ther. from Ecuador a nd G. itatiaiensis Broth. from Brazil, are synonyms of G. affinis Horn sch. Grimmia strictifolia Mitt. from Sikkim is synonymous with G. atra ta Mielich. ex Hornsch. Grimmia nepalensis and G. inflectens, both des cribed by Mitten from Nepal are synonymous. Grimmia scabrifolia Broth. from Hawaii is synonymous with Schistidium strictum (Turn.) Loeske ex O. Mart. and G. ehlei Arnell from Siberia is synonymous with Schistid ium tenerum (Zett.) Nyh. In all, six new synonyms are reported here fo r Grimmia and Schistidium.
