Cw. Hall et al., PSYCHOLOGY OF COMPUTER USE .33. INTERACTIVE INSTRUCTION WITH COLLEGE-LEVEL SCIENCE COURSES, Psychological reports, 76(3), 1995, pp. 963-970
The current study assessed the effectiveness of interactive computer s
oftware with 398 community college students. The interactive software
was used in conjunction with science courses, and students were provid
ed access to the interactive software through a computer laboratory. C
omputer time was assessed by gender, race, and course grade. Analysis
indicated significant effects for grades and computer time, but there
were none for race or gender and no significant interactions. In addit
ion, students were asked to complete a brief rating scale assessing th
eir perception of the computer lab. An over-all positive regard for th
e computer lab was noted. The results support the effectiveness of com
puter-assisted instruction when used in conjunction with classroom lec
ture.
