The lattice invariant shear in the present alloy was determined as bei
ng (001)B19' compound twins by in situ transmission electron microscop
e (TEM) observations. The lattice correspondence of the Bain distortio
n between the B2 parent phase and the B19' martensite was experimental
ly observed and determined as being [010]B19'-[011]B2, [100]B19'-[100]
B2 and [001]B19'-[0(1) over bar1$]B2.
