Abstract
The source-type integral equation method has proven to be a powerful m odeling tool for straight ridge waveguides. This method is full-vector ial and mathematically rigorous. In a previous publication the source- type integral equation method has also been successfully applied to ci rcularly curved channel waveguides in a homogeneous background. In the present paper this approach-is extended to circularly curved channel waveguides embedded in a multilayered background. These are the type o f waveguide structures that are usually encountered in integrated-opti cal and optoelectronic devices.
