This article describes the experience of setting up Internet services
on a PC system. It outlines how microbiological software and other inf
ormation can be made available to others using low specification hardw
are. The software used runs under MSDOS and prouides ftp, gopher and W
WW servers. The system was easy to set up and could be used to provide
services on a departmental local area network that was not connected
to the Internet.
