M. Imhof, INFLUENCE OF STIMULUS-ENHANCED WORK MATER IAL ON THE WORKING BEHAVIOROF HYPERACTIVE-CHILDREN DURING SPELLING PRACTICE, PSYCHOLOGIE IN ERZIEHUNG UND UNTERRICHT, 42(3), 1995, pp. 234-239
Against the backdrop of the theory of optimal stimulation as a possibl
e explanation for the behavior of hyperactive children, the effect of
compensatory stimulation through unspecific, noninformational color-st
imulation was tested. Subjects were eight hyperactive boys age 7 to 8
and a normal control group from the same age group. A positive effect
of added stimulation could be shown: The hyperactive, but not the norm
al control children were able to sustain attention longer and to impro
ve their spelling performance under the condition of added stimulation
.
