Fj. Pearsall et al., ATTITUDES TO THE ASSOCIATION OF ANESTHETISTS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STANDARDS OF MONITORING DURING ANESTHESIA AND RECOVERY, Anaesthesia, 50(7), 1995, pp. 649-653
A questionnaire was sent to 293 anaesthetists in the West of Scotland
to assess their attitudes to the recommendations for standards of moni
toring during anaesthesia and recovery published by the Association of
Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. Such standards are consid
ered achievable and affordable in terms of costs and allow the early d
etection of events occurring during anaesthesia, which might lead to i
njury to the patient. The survey shows that there is wide acceptance o
f the recommendations by anaesthetists of all grades, with resultant i
mprovements in the quality of patients care.
