Abstract
This feature of Applied Optics is dedicated to research in optical pat tern-recognition techniques that utilize nonlinear devices and algorit hms. Nonlinearities are employed in a variety of ways in optical patte rn recognition and play an important role in both hardware implementat ion and software development for optical pattern-recognition systems.
