A. Mata et al., COMPLETE RECTOANAL STENOSIS CAUSED BY SUP POSITORIES OF PARACETAMOL SALICILAMIDE, Revista espanola de enfermedades digestivas, 87(6), 1995, pp. 463-464
A female patient previously diagnosed of psychiatric disease used a co
mpound of paracetamol-salicilamide-codeine in suppositories, daily, fo
r more than one year, for migraine. She developed a complete rectoanal
stenosis and bowel obstruction requiring permanent colostomy. Ulcerat
ion and redo-anal stenosis have been described in association with the
use of suppositories, mainly ergotamine. However, this is the first c
ase of total redo-anal stenosis.
