Abstract
The effect of various doses of buserelin and D-Phe(6)-LHRH on LH secre tion was tested in eight castrated male pigs. The preparations were gi ven intravenously and the administered dose of buserelin, as the activ e substance, was always one fifth of that of D-Phe(6)-LHRH. Both prepa rations produced a dose-related increase in LH secretion. The results indicate that the efficacy of buserelin in terms of LH release in the pig is five times that of D-Phe(6)-LHRH when expressed on the basis of the active substance in the preparation.
