Abstract
A global, dynamic simulation of crossflow microfiltration in flat-chan nel systems is presented. The model is based on the description of the hydrodynamics in channels with rectangular cross-section and permeabl e walls, and on some empirical parameters. It is suitable for estimati ng the required membrane area or the power consumption of the filtrati on process. The numerical predictions are in close agreement with expe rimental results for the time-dependent development of filter cake hei ght and filtrate flux.
