This study is devoted to the theoretical calculation of the propagatio
n characteristics of shear horizontal waves trapped in surface transve
rse wave (STW) resonators. The model implemented takes piezoelectricit
y into account and provides the principal parameters of the acoustic w
ave (propagation and attenuation coefficients, velocity, etc.) propaga
ting under shallow groove or thin metal strip gratings. A numerical me
thod has been used to resolve the equations of the problem. The result
s obtained are in good agreement with previous results without piezoel
ectricity. Calculation results are presented for delay lines designed
with metal strip gratings deposited on AT-cut of quartz.
