DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION-SYSTEM IN THE HARARE-CITY-HEALTH-DEPARTMENT

The experience is reported with the health information system of the H ealth Department of Harare City, five years after its introduction. Th e system was evaluated in terms of the implementation procedure and im provements in the management process. it is concluded ?hat careful man agement of the implementation process itself is a key to the successfu l realization of a health information system in developing countries. The statement that the quality of information produced during a comput erization process is only as good as the original data fed into it, is emphasized.
