Abstract
1,2-Diethynyl-1,1,2,2-tetraalkyldisilanes were polymerized using only the most active Schrock molybdenum alkylidene initiators (Mo(NAr)(CHCM e(2)Ph)(OR)(2) (OR = OC(CF3)(2)Me, Ar = 2,6-C6H3-i-Pr-2-or 2,6-C6H3-Me (2))). Other less active initiators (Mo(NAr)(CHCMe(2)Ph)-(OCMe(3))(2)) and monomers (1,2-dipropynyl-1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilane) yielded mon oinserted products that give insight into factors controlling the mech anism of these reactions.
