Abstract
Malnutrition is both a cause and a result of pulmonary failure. A succ essful outcome to the treatment of pulmonary failure often hinges on a ppropriate and aggressive nutritional therapy. Metabolic stresses caus ed by nutritional therapeutic intervention in the patient with pulmona ry failure must be anticipated.
