Abstract
Variables associated with survival among 1,522 peritoneal dialysis pat ients and 16,404 hemodialysis patients who received treatment during 1 992 were evaluated. Analysis was performed separately for the treatmen t types and for the combined patient group. In general, the associates of survival appear similar among patients receiving peritoneal or hem odialysis. Important variables appear related to nutrition, acid-base status (which is related to nutrition), and age. (C) 1995 by the Natio nal Kidney Foundation, Inc.
