J. Jaminski, THE MIDCRETACEOUS PALEOENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS IN THE POLISH-CARPATHIANS - A PALYNOLOGICAL APPROACH, Review of palaeobotany and palynology, 87(1), 1995, pp. 43-50
This study presents the results of a palynological investigation of Al
bian-Cenomanian sections in the Polish Carpathians. The dinoflagellate
cysts assemblages and palynofacies have been studied to examine chang
es in palaeoenvironments. Several indicators, including analysis of ch
osen groups of morphotypes of dinoflagellate cysts, the peridinoid/gon
yaulacoid ratio, the marine/continental index, species diversity and d
ominance, have been studied. A simplified classification of organic ma
tter has been used to describe the total palynological content of the
studied samples. Several pieces of evidence for a mid-Cretaceous trans
gression have been recognized on the basis of the composition of selec
ted dinoflagellate morphotypes. Previously described Local Oceanic Ano
xic Events have been analyzed on the basis of the palynological record
. Oxygen deficiency has been related to a stagnation due to the highst
and of sea level.
