An exact approach is presented to study N stable impacts per period of
motion of an inclined impact damper with friction and collision on ei
ther one or both sides of the main mass with identical and non-identic
al coefficients of restitution. The modifications required to accommod
ate cases of pressurized damper mass and a damper mass oscillating on
a spring-supported platform are presented. The comparison of theoretic
al predictions with results obtained using numerical simulation of mot
ion on a digital computer and previous results indicate good agreement
